Character Design Development for the “Anti Kidney Failure” Web Comic

Web comics are an effective medium for delivering educational messages to young audiences, particularly regarding health issues such as kidney failure. This study aims to design characters for the web comic “Anti Gagal Ginjal” as a means of promoting awareness about healthy lifestyle choices. The method employed is Design Thinking, which includes five key stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data was gathered through observation, interviews, and questionnaires targeting individuals aged 18–25. The characters were developed based on common youth habits and health challenges, allowing for emotional connection and relevance. Validation was conducted through audience voting and expert review. The final outcome demonstrates that visually engaging and relatable character design can serve as an effective visual communication tool to increase awareness about kidney health and disease prevention.
