Declaration of Generative AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be utilized to assist in creating explanatory illustrations, such as schematics, conceptual diagrams, and flowcharts. AI tools can be used to make data visualizations like charts, plots, and graphs when the output comes directly from the underlying data using repeatable mathematical, computational, or statistical methods.

AI tools must not be used to create or alter images representing empirical observations or experimental results. This includes making changes to the brightness, contrast, or color balance, which should only be done with standard image processing software.

This policy doesn't stop people from using AI tools in formal research design or research methods. AI-assisted imaging methods can gather and analyze research data or make predictions about clinical outcomes based on previously gathered data.

Authors are fully responsible for making sure that all images they send are original and correct. When authors include images in their manuscript that were made with generative AI tools, they need to say so in the image's caption.

Editorial Oversight of AI Usage:

Marketing Insight's Editorial Board and Managing Editor are responsible for:

  • Screening all submitted manuscripts for undisclosed or inappropriate AI usage during the initial review phase.
  • Verifying that authors have accurately declared all AI tools used in research design, data analysis, visualization generation, and manuscript preparation.
  • Cross-referencing author declarations against the content and methodology to identify any inconsistencies or omissions.
  • Rejecting or requesting revision of manuscripts where AI usage has been used inappropriately (e.g., creating or altering empirical observation images) or left undeclared.
  • This includes documenting all AI screening decisions and maintaining transparency in the peer review process regarding AI-related concerns.

Authors are reminded that misrepresentation or non-disclosure of AI usage constitutes research misconduct and may result in desk rejection or retraction of published articles.

Declaration of Interest

All authors are required to disclose any financial and personal relationships with other individuals or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. Employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding are all examples of potential competing interests.

Publication Ethics

Marketing Insight is a peer-reviewed journal. This journal follows guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding all aspects of publication ethics and, in particular, how to handle cases of research and publication misconduct. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the editor-in-chief, the editorial board, the peer reviewer, and the publisher. Marketing Insight is dedicated to following best practices on ethical matters, errors, and retractions. The prevention of publication malpractice is one of the important responsibilities of the editorial board. Any kind of unethical behavior is not acceptable, and the journal does not tolerate plagiarism in any form.

Marketing Insight adapts COPE guidelines to meet high-quality standards of ethics for publishers, editors, authors, and reviewers. To improve the quality of research worldwide, it is essential to clearly explain publication ethics. In this section, we clarify the standards that apply to editors, authors, and reviewers. Publishers are not entitled to interfere with the integrity of the contents and only support publishing in a timely manner.

For Editors:

  • Based on the review report of the editorial review board, the editor can accept, reject, or request modifications to the manuscript.
  • Editors should be responsible for every article published in Marketing Insight.
  • The editors may communicate with one another or with reviewers when making the final decision.
  • An editor has to evaluate the manuscript objectively for publication, judging each based on its quality without looking at the nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the authors. He/she should decline his/her assignment when there is a potential conflict of interest.
  • Editors need to ensure the document sent to the reviewer does not contain information about the author and vice versa.
  • Editors should communicate their decisions to authors along with reviewers' comments, unless they contain offensive or libelous remarks.
  • Editors should respect well-reasoned and practicable requests from authors to exclude an individual from reviewing the submission.
  • Editors and all staff should guarantee the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript.
  • Editors will be guided by COPE flowcharts if there is suspected misconduct or disputed authorship.

For Reviewers:

  • Reviewers need to comment on ethical questions and possible research and publication misconduct.
  • The reviewers will do the work in a timely manner and should notify the editor if they cannot complete it.
  • Reviewers need to keep the confidentiality of the manuscript.
  • Reviewers should not accept reviewing manuscripts in which there is a potential conflict of interest between them and any of the authors.

For Authors:

  • The author(s) confirm that they are submitting original material that has not been published elsewhere and to which no rights have been transferred.
  • Authors must ensure their work is original and properly cited.
  • Author(s) should not engage in plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
  • Author(s) should ensure that they follow the authorship criteria outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Authors must not publish redundant manuscripts or the same research in more than one journal.
  • Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. Others who have made significant contributions must be listed as co-authors. Authors also ensure that all-authors have seen and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript and to their inclusion as co-authors.
  • The author(s) haven’t suggested any personal information that may make the identity of any participant or patient recognizable in any form of description, photograph, or pedigree.
  • Author(s) should provide the editor the data and details of the work if there are suspicions of data falsification or fabrication.
  • If at any point the author(s) discover a significant error or inaccuracy in the submitted manuscript, they must report it to the editor.
  • Authors should clarify everything that may cause a conflict of interest, such as employment, research expenses, consultant expenses, and intellectual property.

Publication Frequency & Schedule

Marketing Insight is published twice a year, in June and December.

The journal operates on an "In-Print / Publish-as-You-Go" system. Accepted and fully copyedited articles are published online immediately upon completion of the production stage, rather than waiting for the entire issue to be finalized. These individual articles are then compiled into the formal semi-annual issues in June and December.

To support high academic writing standards, efficiency, and scientific integrity, Marketing Insight recommends and encourages authors to use the following software tools when preparing their manuscripts:

  • Reference Management & Citations: Authors are strongly advised to use reference managers such as Zotero or Mendeley to format inline citations and reference lists according to APA 7th Edition style.
  • Grammar & Proofreading: Authors should use language and proofreading assistance tools such as Grammarly or Quillbot to ensure clean, formal, and accurate academic English prior to submission.
